He guys, just got my X300 today.  I noticed it comes with 3 mounts...the one for a pistol is whats attached by default.  I was wondering which on you guys are using for picatinny rails.

Thanks,

JB

I believe it's in the manual cause I don't remember off the top of my head. I think it's comes with the universal mount by default and has the pistol/rifle only separate.

The picatinny is installed, however, the guide rails must be out of spec.  It wont budge onto a 1913 rail... :\

Well I got it to go on, but I had to gorilla it on there..  Damn thats a tight fit.  Anyone encounter the same thing?  Has any body tried taking some of the material on the rail guides off?

Yup I ran into the same problem with my Larue 1913 rails. I like them on handguns only too btw cause the ergos don't work for me on a Carbine.

I'm using a tube handguard where I can place rail sections at different positions, so ergonomics isn't a problem...but holy fuck, I was scared I was going to break the light trying to get it on there.  Would taking a file to the rail guides be a feasible option?

Universal fits pistol rails, Picatinny is for rifle rails.

I had that same problem the first time I tried to put my X300 on my Troy rails. All I had used it on was Sig and HK pistol rails. After working it back and forth on my Troy a bit it has loosened up considerably. It will now go on my pistols VERY easily but there is still no wobble or flex on the pistols.

Well I popped the'P' marked picatinny plate and spring off so it wouldn't lock in and ran it back and forth and it loosened it right up. I was seriously debating  buying a $100 larue mount but now it comes off so easily that changing batteries will be no problem.

There you go. I ran mine along the entire length of my ff rail and reciever about 5 times. I have found I like using the sliding locking bar better than the spring loaded one.

The LaRue mount will raise the lights height on the rail. Be sure this is t an issue before buying it. The bottom rail of the X300 series is plastic. If it doesn't fit well, you can remove the P or U plate and forced the light into the rail. Work it back and forth. The rail will cut into the mounts and profile it so that it fits better.

Yeah I figured that out last night.  I kept trying to do it with the plate on then the lightbulb went off in my head..Its super smooth now and no need for a mount that adds weight, and costs half of what the light cost.

Is the mount on the x300 polymer?

I'm considering one to mount in front of my front sight on my Adams arms midlength but that would place it on the gas block and I'm concerned about heat messing up the mount if its polymer

Yes the rail guides and the locking plate are plastic.

The optional Larue Mount is QD and is billet aluminum..but costs half of what the light costs.

You could mount it behind the sight., but with the larue mount the extra height would interfere with the sights.  The factory mount, however, would not as far as I know.  Someone else might know more so don't take my word for it. I like my lights at 9 o'clock

So a lil elbow grease fixed your problem.

The way I had mine set up above ended up being very annoying. It was covering the bottom 1/4 to 1/3 of the sight picture in the scope. After messing with it more I ended up with it like this. With a sight that sits higher like an Aimpoint or Eotech I don't think it would be as bad.

I don't think I see a pressure switch on your setup, am I right?

Correct Sir. The upper activation button is exactly where my thumb sits when holding it normally. Very easy and natural to activate in that position.
