I need help figuring out what mount for my G2 so that I won't get a barrel shadow. I checked the stickied threads and found them helpful but I am not sure. I have a larue QD mounted on a piece of moe rail. Should I try the scout mount or just have to deal with it?

A G2? no. Eliminating the barrel shadow is easy though, and this makes it ambidextrous, which is nice.

I don't lose any sleep over barrel shadow. Get a mount that puts your G2 at the 10:00-10:30 (1:30-2:00) if you want to minimize it.

Is this really a big deal to you? I prefer my lights at the 6 o'clock position in the ElZetta 1500 mounts on all my rifles. I have never noticed a barrel shadow, if it is there I sure don't let it bother me. But we all need to find out what works for each of us.

The purpose of the light is to identify the target.  Will a little barrel shadow really prevent you from doing that?

I like my lights mounted at the 1:00-1:30 position. Barrel shadow produced will be at 7:00-7:30 position. If you are right handed, your left forearm should be covering the barrel shadow when you have the rifle pointed out so it's not a really big deal. Offset light mounts for the 1:30 position are made by IWC, VLTOR, VTAC, LaRue, Daniel Defense, Gear Sector and others I probably missed. What LaRue offset light mount do you have? LT606?
