I keep seeing manufacturers like StreamLight and SureFire saying "Don't use rechargeable cr-123 batteries."  Doe anyone really know why?

Yes because they are 3.7v for the most part instead of 3v and you can fry the led/circuitry.

Thanks.  Given that, there may be an option.  I just found these.  I have NO idea if they're any good or not.  I'm going to keep looking.

Form what I have read on candle power forums most of the 3.0 volt ones are junk.

Actually they are fully charged at 4.2volts.  3.7 is "nominal" voltage.  Look on candlepowerforums for info on what is compatible.

Many thanks.  Since I like to "play" with my lights, I go through batteries faster than I'd like.  I have an older SureFire that I don't care if I break, so I will experiment with that.
