Anyone ever disassemble their KX2C light head?  Have a friend who needs to replace the lense but I don't want to monkey it up.

ETA...  If the depth of your reply is "Call Surefire", don't bother posting and move along please.  He has the lense in hand, it was shipped to him by SureFire.

Why not give SureFire a call and arrange to return it to them so they can take care of it?

They sent the replacement lense.  Thanks for your insight, not sure I would have thought of that.

Why would Surefire send a replacement part of something that doesn't appear to be readily user-servicable and no instructions?

I would give Surefire a call.

I guess my post wasn't clear enough.
A local Law Enforcement Officer damaged the lense on his Surefire Scout Light.
He called SureFire and they sent him a replacement lense.
He asked me if I knew how to take the head apart to replace the lense SureFire sent him.
I posted here asking a simple question and get a bunch of smart ass replies that have nothing to do with the question at hand.

The KX2C does not have a user-serviceable "lens".
I have never heard of SureFire ever offering such a thing.

Those LED bezels are glued together. Some people determined to get them open have had to boil it (in a bag) and use carefully rigged strap wrenches to crack it open. You then need a tool to remove the retaining collar for the optic. And don't touch it as it needs to stay pristine.

Does the part that SureFire sent have any codes on the packaging?
The only window replacement kits they have were for classic incandescent models with Lexan polycarbonate Windows rather than glass. They come with instructions.

It's just the lense, no packaging. It would seem the heads cannot be taken apart which raises the question as to why SureFire would send him the lense. I'll break the bad news to him, thanks for the reply and I appologize for being an ass. It's been a rough week and I'm going to bed now.

I did take take a number of Surefire heads apart, KX2c included.

In most cases it requires a careful application of heat to soften the thread locker Surefire uses on the threads (boiling is for wimps, i like propane torch), strap wrenches, and often vice grips.

I've also damaged finish on more than 1 head while opening it.

Bottom line is - call Surefire :)
