anybody know of a solid tac light that'll hold up to a 12 gauge's recoil that runs on AA's instead of cr123's?

Fenix makes some nice AA Led flashlights, just find a rail mount for one.

Go pick out your choice of AA powered light.  There are lots of LED options out there now that kick out serious light on AA batteries and are pretty cheap.  Throw a set of Lithium Batts in it and then buy a set of scope rings.  Remove one of the scope rings from the package and stick the flashlight in it then stick it on an offset rail attachment if you use a foregrip then it's easy to hit the button if you're a right handed shooter and the flashlight is on the right rail.

If you don't want to use an offset rail stick the light on the left rail and hit the button there.  There are also LED light manuf. out there that offer remote pressure switches for their lights.  I used to run one on my G2 mounted to my AR for a while till I tried using the thumb on the tailcap setup and I liked it so much I threw my tape switch away.

On my MAK-90 right now I'm running a 25 dollar 140 lumen Wal Mart Coleman light (spray painted tan ) in a scope ring on the left side of the handguards because I don't run a foregrip on that rifle.

As a reference the Surefire G2 will fit in a 1 inch scope ring perfectly.  That Coleman light needed a 1 1/4 inch scope ring I think.

Keep in mind that many lights are not made to handle the recoil of a firearm and might fail under repeated use.  A lot of them will switch modes on you thanks to the recoil.  They might be able to handle it and they might not, so don't be surprised if it is not designed as a mountable light and fails on you.

^this is what I was concerned with myself, that's why I came to the hive to find a specifically designed AA tac light but it seems as though there are not many options on the market.I just figured that in a SHTF scenario where you are scavenging for almost everything you need AA batteries will be much easier to find than cr123's.

Standard AA batteries have a horrible shelf life. You won't notice if they are powering your cable box remote, you will if powering a light. CR123s really are the best option, just buy a 18 pack everytime you order ammo, and you will have a stockpile quickly, with a shelf life that is actually useable.
