What I'm looking for is an affordable (under $40) switch I can mount on the rail that works with this light. I just don't want to spend more on the switch than I did on the $60 flashlight.

ETA: this TacStar switch works with the G2, but I don't know if that means LED or incandescent, or if that even matters as long as the actual cap size is the same.

I've been thinking about getting that same switch. Did you get one? If so how well made is it?

I like this tape switch better, based on what you're getting and the price. Is it a quality piece? IDK.  YET! ordered one with a 18650 host

It has to be as good as the Tac

That thing looks nice. It looks quality so hopefully it is. And the price is good too.

I was looking at the site.. Is it G2 compatible?

I did a search just using the tape switch name before I purchased. It is reported as compatible with 6P, 9P and G2

Sweet. I'll have to order one then.

Found out today that the Solarforce (PTS-2 AND PTS-3) DO NOT fit the G2. They physically fit the body but will not work with the light. Fortunately I live not far from there and was able to test the switch in store before I left. Primary Arms is 2 min. down the road so I stopped in. They have one that works great. $19.99

The quality on this is pretty good. Solid base to screw in to the light and the switch and cable seem pretty well made as well.

I don't see it on PA's web site.  Can you post a photo?

Here's the link: Primary Arms Tape Switch for G2  There's no printing on the other side but my cable laid down better this way before I looped it around my mount.

I like that and thanks for posting...

I have the item I posted on the way with one of their host so it will be usable for me regardless. Everything I have read says the 6P and G2 are the same light, I will update this when I test my luck and the PTS-3 on my 6P.

That PTS-3 switch felt well built. It's pretty cool. It just didn't work with the G2 for some reason. I think there's some internal differences since the G2 screws all the way in for constant on and you back it off some for momentary on. Not sure if that's why or not. At least I got to go over to PA and play with Aimpoints and the PA clones.

It works! The tail cap switch works as momentary or continuous and the tape switch works as momentary.  It looks well built and the the tape switch can be purchased separately, as long as the tail cap is functioning a damaged cable is easily swapped out.
I know durability is questionable but it's a cheap upgrade that provided me with what I wanted. The Solarforce host will end up bed side after a drop in and some batteries.

I have the Solarforce tail cap and remote pressure switch as well. Was a nice piece but the pad is too large to fit in the cover provided with the magpul illumination kit. I purchased 2 of the switches just incase and I tried stripping the rubber shielding to try to come up with a clever way to seal it back up and make it fit but it died as soon as I removed it so I don't want to touch the other one. That primary arms switch looks like it fits great! Too bad it's not in stock. I'm trying to find one that will work with the same light but with a small enough pad to fit in the magpul cover so I can attach it securely to my handguard. I'm trying to avoid purchasing one with a curly cable as well.

You got it to work on the G2? I tried 2 different ones and none worked. I liked that switch though.

For my Primary Arms switch, they happened to find on in the shop. I had to open my magpul mount up just a tiny tiny amount for mine to fit. I shaved off a thin amount of width and open up the length a hair with a dremel.

Those Solarforce are junk. I bought three for each light I had on my ARs and each one broke. I ended up buying used XM0 switches and using SR07 pressure switches.

The OP had requested $40 and under. I don't doubt your assessment of the Solarforce switch.  The ability / option to remove the light and continue to use it as a hand held minus the switch is a feature I wanted but the Sure Fire setup is $129 new.
Do you have an opinion on the TAC switch the OP has linked?
.

You got it to work on the G2?

I have a 6P
