Need an IR laser for target designation in NVGs at 500-3000m. I understand the beam width opens up at range. This need not be "tactical" or able to withstand battlefield abuse, I am using it as a navigational aid. I don't want to start a flame war but the Red Chinese have some listed on Ebay for under $100. I am totally new to this market and have no idea what I should be looking for or what I should be paying. Again, I am not going to strap this to my rifle and charge the front lines, it will be handheld or equipment mounted and used to pinpoint navigational waypoints for NVG users.

Check out this guy's EE sale. $700 for a Ground Commanders Pointer

It'll be difficult to find a ground commanders pointer outside of the secondary market. $700 seems like a good deal and you'll be better off with one of those <$100 fake chinese PEQ-15s with a laser. |

Quoted: That would fit the OP's needs. Nice units. They pop up for cheaper from time to time. I'd look around a bit longer.Check out this guy's EE sale. $700 for a Ground Commanders Pointer http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=148&t=884494&light= ETA: These things are as restricted as weapon lasers, so you'll either need to buy something like what I put above or a Chinese laser unit (which might not hold up to any sort of outdoors work).
