I got to play with one of these over a weekend deer hunt, and must admit its pretty cool. At night with the beam opened up all the way to its largest diameter, you could just catch glimpes of deer eyes reflecting back with your naked eye if you were paying attention out to maybe 150-200 yards or so. If you tightened up the beam to cover a smaller area you could see animal eye reflections a bit better, again if you were paying attention and without optics of any kind. The laser worked way better when paired with a set of bino's. It's powerful, you can see the entire beam (as opposed to just the dot once it hits something) in the dark. While a neat little gadget, I personally wouldn't pony up the asking price for one.
Better than cheap Gen 1 NV? Probably, but not by a whole lot. |
