had a guy bring a box of these up to me the other day at the shop and he wants to sell them.  he's not sure what he has, nor am i.

every one of them does work in that, their is a red dot and when you depress the pressure switch it turns off.  i'm assuming the dot goes IR or whatever and the beam from the front operates.  i have no way i'm aware of to verify this however...

can you guys advise on what this stuff is and how much it is worth?

Ive seen NIB IR versions go between 600-900, for being that beat up its your call.  I wouldnt pay more than $450 for something like that, especially knowing that there is nothing I can do if it breaks but throw it away and buy another

I would say he likely has a box full of stolen sights from the military, probably the Marine Corp since I think they were the only branch that bought them.  Why would you even consider buying them?  If he doesn't know much about an item that was originally restricted to LE or military sales and they look like that, where do you think he got them?

i have no idea, that's why i'm asking.  i'm not any more interested in stolen goods than the next guy, but i can hardly try to verify anything if i don't know what i'm looking at or the circumstances that may surround them.

i'm digging for information.

MARS sight's are garbage!! They don't hold zero worth a damn, the mount sucks, and the ir aim is weak as hell. Looking at the condition their in I wouldn't spend more then 150.

Mako Group has nothing to do with them.  Fraser-Volpe was the last I heard of dealing with them.
