Is it a viable option over a standard white light setup with IR covers.
How is the run time on those units. Pics of your setup. Thanks J |

I think so. The runtime information is reported on the SureFire Web site. But you will get a huge runtime improvement by going from incandescent to LED. Further, the runtime on IR mode is very high, but I'm not sure how the throw compares to an incandescent with a filter (e.g., a 225-lumen MN11 bulb with an IR filter vs. the 952v). I have also read that the filters can fall off (I'm assuming this is only after hard use, not what the average citizen does), which isn't an issue with the 952v.
I think the 952v is one of the best lights out there. I only wish I had some NV to play with. |

I have no NV gear right now but im planning on it. Still on the meantime, any other use i can get out of it is nice. Thanks. J |

The IR isn't visible to the human eye. I got my 952v for $215 on the EE and they can be had for similar prices on eBay. Given the longer battery life, more reliable light source (LED v. incandescent), and the fact that 951/2 and 961/2 lights are still going for around $150 (without filters), I figured it was no-brained to upgrade. YMMV. |

The Vampire Series is a great concept and works great. The while light is 150 Lumens and with NODS the IR Looks about the same. The IR is very bright. It blows the M1 away. It is not as powerful as say a PEQ-15 but you will have no problem using it as target recognition or navigation. ETA: There is no comparison (in my mind) between a white light with a filter and the Vampire System. .02 -Arbiter |
