So how are you guys running a flashlight with your AFG? I'm wanting to get a G2 but I'm not sure how easy it'll be to engage. I was thinking maybe having an offset mount on the top rail so that it hangs to the left and just use my thumb, but I'm not sure. Can you guys show me how you've got your flashlights set up with your AFG? I'd prefer to see 10.5" or 11.5" SBRs if possible (I'm running an 11.5" barrel w/ LaRue 11.0 FF rail)

IMO the AFG works best with Surefire X-series weaponlights if you are going for a compact light.

YMMV the pics above are worth this a thousand times

Cannot say for sure, but it looks like butler creek.  Cheap house brand at mostly any mid to large sized gun store and big box sporting goods store.

Hmm. I've thought of it lol. I guess if I don't like it, I can always buy a GG&G mount for my USP45 Tactical and put the light on there My only concern is will my MBUS sights be tall enough to have a light in front of them and still be used?

Well id say that if you get the X300 (non laser model) your MBUS front should clear the light no prob. You might run into probs with the X400 which has the laser module under the unit itself.

For you intended purpose, the light being upside down, it might get in the way.

As you can see from the pic, X300 are pretty clean on the underside.

Best of luck!!

The picture is crappy but I'm running a GG&G offset mount with a streamlight poly tac light.  Works great for me. But to each his own.

Same as above.  The Gear Sector mount is great.

I also have a TLR-1 at 12:00 on my 16" AR.

My 300 BLK 10" SBR and 6.8 12.5" SBR have a Surefire E1B with VME head and Malkoff M31 drop in (235 lumens in a 5 oz. package including mount!) offset at 11:00 with the Gear Sector mount.

I used to have my set up like this. AFG w/ IWC G2 mount. Worked ok, but I ended up losing the AFG.

Now I just use a handstop.

I've got a G2 in a LaRue offset mount.  Mount is positioned on the top rail and the light is at the 10:30 (upper left, looking through sights).

I can click the button with my support hand thumb.

Probably the thing I love the most about the AFG, positions your hand perfectly so you can ignore all that tape switch and cord nonsense by mounting the light at somewhere around 9-11 o'clock.

It's a repost pic from another thread I posted, but you can see where I ran the pigtail for my Scout Light.  I slightly adjust my hand position and activate the light with my pinky...

Tape switch is where my fingers rest naturally.  Thumb remains on top of handguards.

not trying to start a flame war or anything, but I was shooting with Bennie Cooley and he brought up a point i thought was quite valid...

He mentioned that his philosophy is you shouldn't put the tape switch where you normally place your hand, that it should be a conscious effort to turn on the light.  Some guys who have tape switches on their VFGs may inadvertently activate the light and give away your position when you don't want to.  YMMV

That is a different type of stance. I was taught and do teach that you bring the rifle up to your head not your head down to the rifle. Its faster to acquire targets that way. You simply scan and when you see the target the rifle moves up in your line of sight. Also I place the lower portion of the buttstock in the pocket. You have the rifle way down on your chest.

Have to switch it on before the tape switch will work but I do get your point.  Haven't noticed inadvertently pressing it at the range though.  Here's the other side.

That works too.  The other idea he mentioned for alleviation of accidental light activation was a flip cover with a small piece of fiber optic run across the inside front of the lenscap and sticking thru the sides but trimmed, so you can look to see if your light is on prior to un-capping it.

The Elzetta ZFH1500 works very well with the Magpul AVG and is completely ambidextrous. Light activation is achieved with the knuckle of one's index finger leaving the thumb firmly on top of the bore to manage recoil.

If you look at the picture of my rifle posted on page 1, you'll see that that setup is impossible. Nice shameless plug though

Boy do you have some good tastes on a rifle set up . . . .

Here's my work rifle with my 3 gun optic I just got.  Normal rides with a H-1 at work.
