I have a SureFire Aviator and would like to use it as a weapons light. For those not familiar, it has 3 green LEDs for lowlight and an incandescent bulb for high power. (not my pic)  I may be doing some hog hunting in the spring and would like to have the option of a light. Rifle is a 16" GTS 6.8 with a DD rail and lopro gas block and LaRue FUG 1) Would this light be a good weapon light? I also have a SF G3, which would be better? 2) If I were to mount it, what would be a good mount that would work with this light? I know nothing about them other than what is in the FAQ where this light isn't mentioned I would like to add a tape switch if possible. Thanks!  |

The Incandescent bulb is in no way "shock isolated".
I also don't like the idea of subjecting the TailCap leaf-spring contacts to weapons recoil. I predict the A2 doesn't last long as a weapon-mounted light. There is no other TailCap or remote switch option for the two-stage push button pressure switch TailCap used by the A2. No aftermarket solution either. The G3 has far less to go wrong. |

I think I might just keep the A2 in my flight bag and pick up a G2 and mod it appropriately. Cheers |
