Well out of all of the Surefire's I've owned, my X400 has started to give me a problem.  The light is eating up the batteries really quick (less than 30 min).  The light will suddenly dim and start flickering.  When I switch to the laser, it is still plenty bright and still has a good range.  Has anyone had a problem like that lately?  I've already called Surefire and it's going back tomorrow.

I've had two of them have issues with the laser alignment screws. As you're adjusting one direction with the hex screw, all of a sudden the laser will begin tracking back the opposite direction.

I'm not a fan of the selector either. I carry so it is LIGHT/LASER all the time. This puts the selector switch at 6 o'clock. I've knocked this little lever to one side or the other. You come up from a holster hoping for light, and you get nothing but laser. Fail.
I'm going to modify the switch after I finish my warranty BS.

The screw that holds the device to the rail sucks. They put a huge ass head on the screw, and it hangs up on my holster every god damn time I go to reholster it. So now I have to cry to Raven Concealment and see if we can modify the holster around this issue.

When I tried to talk to several Surefire reps at SHOT 2010, they didn't seem to give a rats ass. If you try to talk to their tech support, you might as well go sucker punch yourself in the balls. You'll get further doing that than you will with them. Even if you do get to someone with some pull, you realize you're talking to the guy who designed it so you have to remove the light/laser from the weapon in order to change the batteries.

It is a great product, but it could seriously benefit from some real world use design modifications.

I have to rave about Surefire's customer service a bit.  I sent my 110 lumen X400 light in with no box or anything else and got a NIB 170 lumen X400 back.  I noticed that the selector is a bit different and stiffer too.  The turn around was pretty fast too.  This one of the reasons that I'm a Surefire Kool Aid drinker.

uh.. lumens on the X series lights didn't change.  The only thing different is how they measure the light output.

Yeah I asked the Surefire guy and they said the lumens did increase and the X400 does appear to be brighter than my X300.  Same thing with my new KX2c head which looks brighter than the old.  Maybe it's just me
