| I have a Surefire E2 Defender... the bulbs keep burning out very quickly. Are the bulbs fragile or does my light have a possible issue with a short circuit? |

i've put 2 bulbs in mine in the last 4 yrs. Incandescent bulbs from SureFire are unofficially rated at about 25+ hours lifespan. Did you put two-dozen sets of SF123As through each bulb? Are you weapon-mounting your E2D? This will shorten its lifespan. As will powering it with rechargeable batteries. What did the bulbs look like when they no longer worked? Were they very 'dirty' inside (which is old age) or were they actually stained with black/white/blue solid colour? (which indicated a leak) If they were clear then it indicates the filament broke. |

Light is simply carried in my pocket. I haven't even ran a single set of batteries on them yet. I've had this light since 2006 and it's sat in my closet for the last four years simply because of the bulb issue. When I got it brand new the bulb stopped working within a week. Filament broke. Same thing happened when I replaced it.... put it on the shelf and allowed it to collect dust. I decided to try again and bought another frakking bulb for it..... filament broke. I would like to have a light that doesn't break when it comes in contact with pocket change or my keys. The bulbs are clear every time they stop working. Which means the filament broke. Which I'm quite amazed that a flashlight touted as a "Defender" can't hold up to everyday general wear and tear. I don't have an issue with my L2, G2, Z2, G2Z, 6P, etc.... but they all run off the P60 bulb. Except for my L2 of course.... that's LED. ETA: Factory Surefire Brand Batteries.... it's what my PD issues me. |

The bulb breaking on the first set of batteries is something SureFire usually replace - give them a call and I'm sure they'll sort you out.
It's not normal at all - the bulbs are usually very stable and have great lifespans In fact the E-Series lamps have tended to be more robust than the P60. More efficient too. |

Get one of the EO-E2R's and some RCR123A's and thank me later
or if you want to stick with regular batteries get the HO-E2A http://www.lumensfactory.com/cart.php?cat_id=5 Mines been running with a lot of use for about 2 years now no probs. |

Upgrade to LED and get a much brighter, whiter, light, and they are nearly indestructible. No filaments to burn out and can absorb lots of shock and abuse. the only problem I have the the LED version of the E2D is the strike bezel is nudered and the head is way too big vs the original... if someone/surefire would fix that I would upgrade it in a heartbeat. There was a project a while back on CPF where some guys in AU where making a drop in LED upgrade for it but it went bust from what I can tell :-( |

Why you're not running LED is beyond me. You can buy just the led bezel. Because Surefire won't sell me the Defender LED Head by itself.... I have to buy an entire light. Yeah, they will. Get the KX2C head (unless you need the 2 stages head). Or you can check out TNVC and get their 600 lumen power house for your E2D Problem solved and you can thank us later |
