I currently have a light (streamlight tlr-1) mounted to my bayonet lug and this works well.  I have standard handguards with a remote switch (one with plastic base) secured with zip ties on the handguard at about the  2 o'clock position. I can work the light fairly well with this setup but the remote switch and zip ties can be an issue at times.  The switch seems a bit tall so I picked up a tape switch that will lay more flush on the handguard and will be easier for me to get my fingers onto.  The second issue is I don't like the zip ties and would like something different.  I thought about putting a piece of intertube around the tape switch but getting the tube on the handguards is a no-go with the FSB.  No way to get over it.  I don't want to, or feel comftorable removing the barrel.

So, I thought about getting a rail (probably a Troy 2 piece) but was not sure if this would actually solve my problem.  Is there some sort of mount or other gadget which I could somehow mount the tape switch to?  I know getting a vertical foregrip would solve all my problems but don't really want one. I don't want the added weight (which isn't much I know) and I don't like shooting with one.

So, I'm looking forward to some idea and pictures on how I could better mount the remote switch.  Thanks.

The best thing I have found for mounting tape switches to nonrailed handguards is the rubber innertube of a mountain bike tire. After I cut it into bands I pull it over the front sight and on to the handguards. It holds the pressure pad of the tape switch without turning it on. I use a 2nd band to help hold down any extra cable so it will not get snagged on anything. I tried to use velcro pads but find that the glue on the velcro will just not hold over time especially in the heat of the summer.

Visit your local bicycle repair shop and ask if they have any old used inner tubes that they are throwing out. Also motorcycle shops are always throwing out inner tubes also which are larger than bike inner tubes.

Guess I need to get a larger intertube.  I would like a rail but not sure how to put one on it either.

I had a surefire rail and it was very easy to put on.  Just take off the old handguards and put on the rail.  Then tighten two screws and your done.

I somewhat confused myself with that last post. I know how to put a rail on.  I was saying that I am not sure how I would add a tape switch to the rail.

I would get a Surefire with a Malkoff  and use this tape switch for a rail. SR07

I use them and they work very well.
