I am a new AR owner, and was out with my Colt LE6940 this afternoon...shot the rifle for the first time. I put a Vortex red dot scope on, and yes...I know it is not that best but before I plopped the coin for a better scope I wanted to see if a red dot was what I wanted to go with. I was shooting federal XM 193 ammo, no sand bags, no what you would call real support other than a moving blanket on a picnic table at my bud's farm. Would like some feedback so I know if for the first time out, and shooting a red dot scope if the performance is what you would call expected.
At 100 yards, grouping was about 4"...and at 200 yards...within 5" shooting just as I noted above. Is this about as good as it gets with a red dot scope or ? My bud's .220 was dead nuts with a 3X9 Redfield scope, but comparing a scope with cross hairs to a red dot might be like comparing Agelina Jolie to Oprah...no comparison. Should I have shot a better grouping with the red dot? |

Should I have shot a better grouping with the red dot? First of all, a red dot isnt made for precision, second of all the best you will get using M193 is 2.5-3.5" at 100 yards. So not bad at all. Oh, completely wrong forum |
