Im looking to pick up my first weapon light for my AR and am looking at the Surefire LX2. I like the light for a couple of different reasons but wanted some feed back on anyone who has one or has had the chance to see one in person. Also I have been going back and forth with mounting ideas. I am looking for a offset mount that would enable me to use this light with a vertical grip "thumb operation" if you will, but would like the light to be somewhat snugh to the rail. Daniel defense, Larue, Vltor there are so many... I have also seen mounts that use a two piece set up. I dont know if that is the way to go to achieve what im looking for?

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks!!!!!

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, I have an LX2 and it is the best handheld light I have ever owned, handled or seen. The tailcap set-up is perfect. You always have access to both the high output 200 lumen beam and the low output 15 lumen beam. No clicky (turn for constant on) and no 2 second delay between high and low modes (like the E2DL). The pocket clip is perfect for carry (up and down ability).

Third, for a weapon mount. I only have experience with the Viking Tactics mount. I use my G2 in the mount, but with the spacer with which the mount comes, you could mount the LX2 in it as well. I mount it where I can get at the tailcap button with my thumb on the left side of the rifle. Here are some mount pics of mine.

Hero-

Thanks for the input, the tailcap was one of the primary reasons for my interest in the LX2. The two stage "no clicky" functionality seems to be the best system for what I am looking for.

Now for the mount....I just  decided to add the fm54 diffuser to my wish list so I think im torn between the Daniel Defense offset mount and the Vltor offset mount. I need to make sure they are both compatible with the lx2 or if they come with spacers that will make them work.

SOOO MANY ACCESSORIES.....

Ill be broke before I complete the firearm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Daniel Defense has spacers listed on their website that are available for flashlights with thinner body diameters.
