I have a spare surefire g2 and I was wondering how the CAA Flashlight Grip Adapter performs.
What really attracts me as the price.  I will not be using the weapon light often.  So i dont need the most durable or amazing light attachment.  I am just wondering if there are any major flukes that I should be worried about.

CAA is a decent product that fills the gap between Surefire @ $500 and UTG that well... is crap.  The grip is fairly robust and has a good price-point.  The waterproof grip fits 123's but is tight for more than 3 rounds.  A G2 is actually a great compliment for cost vs usability.  Install is nearly idiot-proof with one exception - as you tighten down the allen head that holds the flashlight in make sure that you are a bit further out than you think you should be.  The on-off is easy but the safety feature requires some space to work.  I actually like this feature because as the "victim" of a overly full safe, I have had a tape-switch get smushed on and have dead batteries upon needing it.

Very well written! I came in expecting to read "CAA = crap" followed by a half dozen "+1s"

i just sold mine on EE, but it's good quality for the price and it doesn't wobble when attached to the rail either.

old pic. it's been replaced by a surefire M910A

My first one broke when tightening down on a flashlight, but the light was a smaller tube. The G2 works well in the mount.

Overall:
1. Sturdy mount (no rattle or shake)
2. durable enough for hard use, but not extreme use (wouldn't want to hang from a cliff with it)
3. a touch heavy
4. safety is VERY nice
5. on/off button not ideally placed
6. not quickly releasable

I took mine off for the weight factor, but I'm using a Vltor VIS which is inherently heavy anyway. I'm planning to switch to daniel defence offset light mount and tangodown stubby quick release.

It is very nice to see a honest CAA post and not the standard posts like the below ones.

spudwebb   "CAA + LaRue = Fail"

If you put a CAA stock on your rifle you will be laughed at

Dedeye0   "It's like putting Hyndai rims on a BMW. Sure, it'll probably work just fine, but you're gonna get a lot of "WTFs?""

ATACORION  "CAA = GAY"

Any time I run into a smaller light and I find the G2 to be a tad small in the FGA I wrap the light with the small section of bike inner tube or black duct tape.

Also if a CAA item breaks, send it back to CAA and they will replace it for life.

I sell the FGA here

Mine was on a Noveske N4 lite 14.5" with Vltor VIS, and I used it for a good while. Like I said the weight was my primary complaint.
I feel the the CAA product quality was 100%, and replacing the broken grip was extremely easy though I feel it was mostly my fault it broke.

As for a spacer material, rubber hose from Lowe's is really cheap with several ID/OD options. With a lengthwise cut, the spacer can be easily placed.
Just to clarify, the spacing issue was on a Fenix T1 first gen. The G2 fit with no problems or spacers necessary.
