Effective immediately, the G2 LED flashlight in black (Product Model Number G2L-BK) will be produced and shipped with an aluminum bezel.
This change is an enhancement to the existing product. With the aluminum bezel the G2L-BK dissipates heat more efficiently, allowing for higher output. The output for the G2L-BK with the Nitrolon bezel started at a maximum output of 80 lumens, leveling to a regulated output of 50 lumens. The G2L-BK with the aluminum bezel starts at a maximum output of 80 lumens and sustains a regulated output of 60 lumens. The total runtime of 12 hours will remain the same. This is very old news.
SureFire made this change within a couple of months of the G2L being first released. The three coloured versions (-OD Olive Drab, -YL Yellow and -TN Tan were only ever released with the aluminium bezel. The coloured finish is powder-coated) |

I was looking for the G2L Tan and came across the link above while searching. Now I know that both black and tan comes with aluminum bezel :) |

As SureFire mention, when the bezel can not soak away the heat generated by the LED the P60L automatically throttles back the power reducing the output to lower the running temperature. This is a thermal protection mechanism to prolong the lifespan of the LED.
Shock Isolated Bezels also very effectively thermally isolate the LED preventing heat from being transferred to the bezel surface. The P60L will run cooler and regulate to a lower normal output compared to a standard metal bezel. This won't harm the LED though. If people have not already purchased the P60L you can purchase the conversion kit - BP60L which also features a standard bezel. |

Skip the BP60L, you can purchase the G2L or 6PL for less then take off the bezel & LED lamp to install on whatever you have (Classic weaponslight, shotgun system or other). |
