Anyone have any experience with this particular light. I picked one up on a whim from a retailer in canada, so it came down to the 325 shipped after exchange rate was figured in. It is the model with the red LED. Is the 250 lumen bulb overkill? I know it comes with a 500 lumen as well.

I have several M5xx variants and I absolutely love them.

I can't stand tape switches and wires on a defensive rifle (personal bias), so the forend lights are just the ticket for me. All of my HD/"serious use" ARs wear one.
(My HD 870s do, as well, FWIW.)

A couple of examples...

Heck, I even had one on an AR pistol for a while...

... but eventually moved it to one of my carbines.

Like HardShell I love em too and own several. When it comes to the M500xx series people tend to either love them or despise them-there isn't a lot of middle ground.

For me, it's the perfect setup. I see no need to freefloat a 200m defensive carbine, I don't care for vertical foregrips, and the negligible weight difference doesn't bother me a bit. The primary drawback to the M500 series in my mind is the lack of an LED option, but Surefire is working on that.

Here are a couple of mine:

Just added a 6 cell turbohead to my 20" skunk slaying rifle, and picked up another 500A for a new carbine.

Hope this helps

Ha ha! Thanks

One day years ago when my daughter was little, she was "helping me" clean a couple of carbines (passing me clean cotton patches, chamber brushes etc). Suddenly she got real serious and starting staring at one of the rifles. A few seconds later she piped up and said "Daddy! Why is one of my My Little Ponies on your gun?" Not satisfied with my answer, she marched up to her bedroom and painstakingly selected the My Little Pony that most closely resembled the pony on my MT6400C carbine. She brought it downstairs, set the little toy horse on the lower, and the rest, as they say, is history
