anyone know of a tape switch to use with an E2DL?  also anyone heard of any issues with using them as a weapon light?

thanks.  will it still work with dual illumination or will it only use the brightest setting?

It will work fine since the mode switching is all in the head.

Have you used the tail switch with the E2DL w/ 2-stage head?

I believe the head senses the momentary activations to determine output level. So, if you begin "strobing" with the tapeswitch, it will alternate between high and low outputs.

E2DL 2-stages are discouraged for use as a weaponlight because the recoil causes momentary breaks in the electrical connection, causing the output level to change with each shot.

Very true, experienced this myself.  Usually just went from HI to LO, and stayed on LO.

If you go with an off-set light mount - you can just easily use your thumb.  I bought the LaRue off-set mount and am very happy with it.  Using the original tailcap switch means there is one less thing to go wrong, eliminates wires, and helps cover the cost of the premium mount...

Just trying to throw out some "food for thought".  Give'm a look - it's worth your time.
