Our local sporting goods store chain had this model on sale for $79 from $99
http://www.laserlyte.com/download/in...8/FSM-00QD.pdf I bought it, took it home, and installed it on my XD 40 Subcompact. Here is my experience: It mounted well, but the switch was very close to the trigger guard and not very natural to turn on. In fact the way it turned so the windage and elevation keys matched the holes, put it in an akward 11 o'clock 5 o'clock position (not like the picture). The directions were very basic, and quite frankly, the packaging was very chintzy (I hate those hard plastic wrappers you have to cut with a knife). While adjusting the windage and elevation, the laser went off. At first I thought I hit the switch, but the laser went completely off. I couldn't get it to come back on, so I thought "maybe the batteries need re-seating or they weren't any good" I put a fresh set in (in comes with an extra set) and the laser still wouldn't come on. I figured I had a defective laser, so I started to box it back up and the laser came on. I switched it on and off and it worked fine. I mounted it back on my XD and it worked fine until I started to adjust the windage and elevation and then it went off again. I now figured that this was shorting the laser out. Sure enough, if I loosened the adjustments the laser came on, but if I made any adjustments, it went off. Finally, I after trying for 45 minutes to adjust the windage and elevation, the laser went completely off. I never could get it to come back on, but I did get it to fade a little bit. Needless to say, I boxed it back up and took it back. Here's my 2 cents, it's not worth the $79 or the $99. I don't believe they are particularly well made and not worth it just because I was being a bargain whore. I don't know what other people's experience has been, but I would be weary of this product. This is not something that I would want to go on the blitz if I needed it. It's not a combat-worthy product, it's just for looks. |
