Narrowed down the hand light to 2 (prefer the tapered center and round rubber ring over the Fenix TK 10, and not being seduced by their hi/lo output option).

I understand the metal heads are needed for the heat if it's left on long. Just not sure if the nylon (G2Z) or metal (Z2) body is the better long term wear or handling option.

I would think the metal head is going to stand up to abuse much longer than the nylon.

I've been using G2's for the past 5 years and have never had a problem with the nirtolon bodies, i picked up a 6P, E2L and an E1L in the past year and haven't had any major problems with them either. Nitrolon flashlights are great because they are light and resist a lot of beatings. One thing i would recommend is getting a click on tailcap for it, because the regular twist ones that they ship with sometimes suck

I used to have a G2 and that thing would never scratch. Having upgraded to the E2D, it's pretty obvious that the nitrolon material is by far the more scratch resistant of the two. I think both are equally tough, but I know some people just have to have that metal feel. Go with your gut, or your wallet.

I believe all the G2Zs comes w/ metal bezels now.   I've been using an old all Nitro G2Z for duty with a P60L head and other than the bezel getting warm there's no temp. change in the body.   Now, I'm running one of the TNVC's drop-in 256 lumen lamp assy's and again other than the bezel getting warm everything else is fine.

I'd say get the G2Z and don't worry about it.

It's a personal preference in many instances whether metal (aluminium) or Nitrolon (polymer) is preferred.

Personally, I prefer the Nitrolon body of the G2ZL to the Z2L. It just feels better all year round and seems to afford better grip and retention.

I suggest you find a SureFire Dealer nearby you can visit and compare them yourself.
