Does anyone know where I can pick up a couple of those thick black (elastic I think) bands to secure a pressure switch to a VFG?  Your asssitance would be greatly appreciated.

Something like the above.

+1 on going to the local bike store for some used tubes. I went that route and found that road bike tubes are a bit tight. They may activate the light in some instances. Mountain bike tubes were too big. BUT BMX tubes seemed just right.

Maybe I'm crazy, but it's what worked best for me...

I've seen those bands that are specifically marketed for fastening the pressure switch on to the VFG.  I'll try to Google it and see what I come up with.

Seriously, it's probably some guying making a killing by selling pre-cut bicycle inner tubes...

You also go to a local surplus store and get some Ranger Bands, they are big rubber bands and work great for light switches..

Those will work

The bands that come with our FUGs are highly resistant to UV and chemicals.

Depending on your FVG, I like paracord. My dieter grip is perfect for paracord. I just installed a tape switch for my Lasermax laser. I take the white string out so the cord is flat.
I used the velcro tape also to hold the unit in place, but the paracord should offer some protection for the switch itself. You have to be careful how tight you make the paracord though. Too tight, and the string will activate the laser.
This works better for me, since I never saw a tire in FDE before...
