I am looking at getting a used M951 surefire, anyone care to tell me if they are a decent weapon light? According to Surefires website they retail for 445 bucks, but they use the same lamp assembly as a G2 etc. Can someone tell me what makes this light worth the money? The filter is about 100 bucks so I see how that factors in, but other then the construction what causes the price? |

I personally dont understand the price of those. And I just dont see the point of the 6 volt Millenium series incans. A surefire 6p with a GOOD Cree Led drop in, specifically the Malkoff device, whoops on anything but the top end Lumens Factory bulbs in throw, output and color rendtion. BUT, most importantly, a Cree has MUCH more runtime, and more shock resistance. OR. I do like the scout light concept, with either the BRIGHTEST Lumens factory bulb in a shock isolated bezel, or a Cree drop in. The scout light system has all the functionality of the M95X series, but is lighter and smaller. BUT. I DO see the point of the M96X and I DEFINITELY see the point of the M97X; there is nothing like a turbo headed incan. If I am going to accept the weight penality of the Millenium Series, I want the throw, output and color rendtion of a 9+ volt Incan. have a good one |
| I have both a 951C and a 962C on two different rifles. My normal 'go to' rifle has the 962 on it but I really like the 951 for maybe 90% of what HD use I would ever have for the light. Lighter in weight and excellent throw up to maybe 35-40 or so yd. Pretty hard to say you needed to shoot at ranges past that in most HD settings. JMO |
Thanks, that was the kind of experience and info I was looking for. |

The MSRP is $445. Call Calvin at Brightflashlights.net If he has it in stock, you will get it for A LOT cheaper. He is a direct dealer and the man to go to for your lighting needs. If he doesn't have it in stock, wait until he does. Trust me, you will not find a better deal. And, you will need the extra money to buy SFCR123's because those lights eat batteries like a mofo! |
Thats what I did. Calvin had a M951 in the demo and open box sale for cheap cheap cheap! |
