Let me first apologize, I tried searching the forums but didn't come up with anything, and I've spent a bit of time trolling the internet and past threads looking for pictures/info that may help me out; but in the end pictures and info aren't worth a lick compared to first hand info from forum members who have used the gear I'm searching for.

I've got a surefire Z2 and am looking to mount it to my AR (railed fore-end of course).  I know this isn't an ideal weapon light, but I have the flashlight on hand, and need to use it in some upcoming training, a proper $xxx weaponlight will be in the budget in the semi-distant future.  From what I could find online I have a few options but the Z2 is unique in that it's small center diameter is blocked off on both sides.  So my question to my fellow shooters is: How can I mount the Z2 securely as a temporary solution for my training needs?

The Larue LT-606 looks like it could possibly work, but it's a bit spendy, and I haven't handled it, so I'm not sure if there would be any way to get it onto the body of the light.  The Vltor also looks like it could almost work, but similarly, I can't tell online if there is enough play in the rings to slip it onto the Z2 then tighten it.

From what I've seen the DD Offset mount PAK would be the best bet if it will indeed fit the Z2?  I know DD makes an insert, but it wouldn't slip over the Z2 body.  Perhaps a similar mount that bolts together like that so the Z2's odd design wouldn't be an issue?  The Larue, Vltor, and DD mounts are the only ones I've found online.  I don't want to spend a ton since this will just be a solution for a few months, but I'd also hate to go cheap and put a low quality part on a $1200+ rifle.

Sorry for a long post, and thanks ahead of time for your input.

My advice would be to buy a Surefire G2 or 6P and mount that instead.  The Z2 is one of my favorite 6V handhelds, but it is best handheld and not mounted for the reason you mentioned.

i have a mount which will fit a Z2, at one time i had a Z2 on my AR15, its made by GG&G IIRC, it mounts under the handguard, if ya want give me an email and i'll look and see if i can find out what model it is, i would sell it cheap too lol.

Hmmm.  More searching and I still can't find anything online that would fit the Z2 body.  Perhaps I'll have to buy a G2 and make myself two hybrid flashlights, with the shock-isolated bezel of the Z2 and the body of the G2 going on the rifle and the remaining parts forming a flashlight for the truck.  Glockman2 I checked GG&G's website and didn't find anything other than their 1" offset mount, but thank you for the info.

Slick,

The Z2 doesn't come with a shock isolated bezel unless you added one later.  It is the exact same light as the 6P only with a different outer body and rubber grippy rings.

Mmm.  I thought it wasn't shock-isolated but then read somewhere that it was.  Of course, I read in my mail today that I won a free trip to Hawaii.  I guess I will solve my tactical light needs in the simplest way possible, and buy a dedicated surefire weapon light.  Thank you guys for your responses.
