I posted this in the "Tactical Gear" forum, but figured it would be better off here.

I have a Streamlight Strion that's been on my duty belt for a while now.  I recently had shoulder surgery and was laid off of work, so it needed a new home.

It's a great little light, very bright, rechargeable, and rugged.  I saw that Streamlight recently came out with a "Tactical Strion" (link) and wanted to mount it on my rifle.  I was able to do that very easily with a cheap 1" ring and a couple layers of electrical tape on the light (to lock it in).  But, I wanted an extended tailcap button and was unable to find a replacement part online.

I found this stuff at Home Depot:

It's a tube of 2 part "The Original Super Glue" epoxy adhesive ($2.97), and some 1/2L Beveled Washers (25/32"OD)($1.52) from the plumbing dept.

The reason I used these is because the Strion has a vent hole in the middle of the tailcap button and I didn't want to obstruct it.

I roughed up the exposed part of the existing tailcap button with a Dremel sanding drum and did the same to the backside of the washer.  I mixed a little of this epoxy and it hardened in about 60 seconds...  I mixed up a little more and worked faster.  After placing the washer on the tailcap button, I just held it together for a few minutes.  After 10 minutes it's rock solid.  I used the Dremel sanding drum to shape the sides down to match the OD of the original button.

Then I used a soldering iron to put some texture on the button.

This is it mounted to the rifle:

I mounted it like this temporarily, until I get an offset mount to put it on the right side of the rifle.  For now I use my thumb to activate it and it works pretty well.

The way I've mounted it still allows for the charger to be attached to the light.

Dude, nice work...
That's using your noggin. I admire people who aren't afraid to try to make things work.

You are now a proud member of WECSOG...

Thanks thezman, I've always been a tinkerer.

I should also add that a spare battery fits perfectly inside the MIAD grip once you remove the rubber insert from the grip cap.  Makes for a great setup IMO.
