I saw the 3 AA LED MagLight at Wal-mart, I am wundering how bright it is?
Is it brighter than a normal 2AA maglight on regulr bulbs?

Anyone know the lumins? How is the beam? Shitty like a regular maglight?

I was thinking it could make a good secondary weapon light, for when I need a light to run longer than a xenon/lithium can.

hello,
i have the 3aa 3watt led mag light. i like it alot more then the normal 2aa bulb. it is much brighter then the normal bulb, and i think it has a better beam as well. im not sure on the lumens though. it is still focuseable and has the candle mode as well. in very low light conditions i say the beam is usable to at least 150 feet. i was iffy about spending 25 bucks on it compared to the like 8 buck for the normal one. but ill never get another one with the old bulb. i love the 3 watt led.

I just used my 2AA LED minimag out at the range last night during my agencies night qual.

It's bright enough at close distances (within 15 yards) but the lsmall size of the reflector limits it's "throw."   I was using it mostly to check the targets, and later to light up the ground to pick up brass.

I have a 2C and 2D mag with 3W LED bulbs and those put out a tight beam out to 30 yards with ease.

The 3 AA led minimag is pretty nice.

2 things I noticed with the LED models and conversion heads...

1) the bulbs never "break" after being dropped or if you mount it on a shotgun
2) a focussed LED minimag is going to last 10x longer than an incandecent 2AA or 2C minimag.

But, as someone already posted, its the small size of the reflector that is holding the torch back.

But, I have one (led conversion on a 2AA) on a shottie I keep at home and have a remote switch for it as well. No complaints.

The three AA is brighter than the two AA and most seem to think the added size it worth it, although it looks funny at first.  Check Home Depot as many were selling them for $16 last week, I don't know if they will still be on sale after Christmas.  Checkout Candlepower forums for all you ever wanted to know about any light you could imagine.
