I'm interested in learning more about this unit for my M4gery. Anyone have one? Pros and cons? I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about it, especially since reading that it was selected as the light for the SOPMOD Block 2 program (or more exactly the .mil version is a Flat Earth colored version of the M3X)? It's not expensive, doesn't require a separate mount, and it's also quite a bit smaller (smaller footprint) than many current light options. Where is the "buzz", or what am I missing? Thanks for any info here. Will |

I have one and it's a very good light for shorter distances especially. You could get out to 100-ish yards if everything is perfect, but for in-home ranges the light is more than enough. I have one mounted on the side of my forend, use a vertical grip and my thumb to work the switch. I compared it to my Surefire G3 Nitrolon and the light output of the M3X was barely noticably brighter, but brighter none the less. I think the 125-ish lumen output that was claimed was a little optimistic. (Used the same pair of batteries to test both lights and compared them a couple times.) The mount is simple to use, but requires you to slide the light on/off so you may need to remove rail covers or other parts. ETA: Potential downfalls would be the plastic housing could be more fragile than an aluminum housing, but if you're smacking the gun hard enough to crack the housing you probably have other damage to worry about as well. The tape switch is very overpriced last I checked (year or so ago). |
