What are the pros/cons of these lights?  Does the forearm get in the way when shooting prone?

It's heavy, the grip can get in the way of shooting in prone, but I've learned to use it as a monopod at need.
The nav lights are a great feature, but I've heard that if they get wet, they'll stay on until batteries are removed.
It has lots of pads and switches, none of the switches are marked in any way.  I used a P-Touch and made tiny 0 and 1 labels on my black M900, on my tan M900 with IR nav lights, I just used a Sharpie to write 0 and 1 to mark their positions.

Thanks, I am considering replacing my m500 millinium with one but I am just considering all of the factors.  It has to be able to fit in a patrol car mount and I am not sure I will have enough room with the forearm sticking out but I sure do like the fact that you can take it on and off without having to take off the whole handguard.  Do you prefer the thrwo lever mount or the thumb screw mount?

The best mount for the m900 is the Larue mount. It is stronger IMO than the ARMS mount.

As far as the LED nav lights it is my understanding that if they get submerged they will stay on until the unit dries but will not be affected if just exposed to rain. They also have covers that you could just slip over the LEDS if your weapons was submerged.

I do have an ARMS 19S (for ACOG) that's now loose on my uppers, it'll move along the axis of the weapon.  I replaced it with ARMS 19LDS which has two levers, it's solid now.  My M900s ARMS mount have not come loose yet, but if they do, it wouldn't bother me much, I don't believe it will adversely affect the accuracy of the weapon for it to move longtitudinally a little.

As to removing and reattaching it, the lever is sufficiently recessed in both open and closed position, you may have a hard time mounting and unmounting it in the dark or in a hurry.  Also as you know, ARMS throw lever mounts have a little steel plate that must be set aside or it will get in the way.  The LaRue replacement mount is the solution for that, not to mention it can be adjusted.

On the right is the ARMS 19S, you can see the "shoe" that interfaces with the throw lever's semi circle like disc.

I believe that SF is shipping current production 900's with bikini covers for the LED's that are retained to the light bezel via a rubber ring. That way they are always handy on the light should you need them due to the LED's getting wet.

If not, or you need a set of covers, Brightflashlights can order them. I got a set from him and consider it a valuable addition.

Good idea, but I found you can orient the cap so that the switch on the bottom so that when the switch faces forward (parallel with barrel) it is enabled, and if turned perpendicular it is disabled.  It is about 1/5 of a turn from being snug tight but its' still water tight and I can tell whether the light is enabled in the dark by feel.

The M900 does not get int he way prone because a 30 round mag sticks down further than the light.  At least it did with my rails that mine was used on.

It isnot heavy unless your a weak ass, I love the light and have one on almost all my Rifles, The only prob is they have alittle play in them (side to side), I dont know if it is just on ARMS SIR's or all rails but I only have ARMS rails.

I am certianly no weak ass.  The M900 is heavy and thats the reason I got rid of it.  It makes the rifle VERY front heavy.

It sounds and looks like a nice light but I think it is more suited for the military.  I am going to search for something a little more simple.  Thanks

Got rid of mine for the same reason. It made the carbine heavy in the front and the vert grip was too long. Just seemed awkward. It's a great light but I wanted to keep the rifle light. I mounted a vert grip and TLR2. Gives me all the light I need and is hardly noticable as far as weight.

It is heavy, whether your shooting hand is shaped like a tree trunk or not.  The key is to train with it all the time, it gets heavy when I hold it with my shooting hand while I do mag changes, going to prone (none shooting hand is going down to brace the fall from kneeling), do this 50 times in 4 hours your arms will get tired.

Even a better idea!

Where did you say you found the LED covers?  Does he have them for a M500 Millinum light?

Well, DevL is a weak ass but I'll agree with him here...the M900 is heavy.  I know because I bought his used one!

Do you think I would notice the weight more or less on my Colt 11.5" SBR? It's already got a Noveske KFH hanging off the end and it made a little difference.

Its a noticeable amount of weight.  9V lights are just heavy period so the difference in a Millenium plus say a TD vertical grip or M900 is not too great.  I just wanted to go with a 6V light because I didnt really have a need for the extra 25 yards of throw.
