The LED is 75 lumens, has a battery life of around 3 hours, and is 5 watts.
The Xenon is 135 lumens and has a battery life of one hour, what would you prefer?

I would go with LED because 75 is go enough plus you get a long battery life and the bulbs last forever.

drop the light and getting a broke bulb really stinks.  LED is the way to go

5 Watt LEDs have a WIDE beam and VERY short throw for the output in lumens.  If you want any kind of throw you want a 3 Watt and a reflector to gain some side spill for use up close.

You are asking if we like the 20 yard throwing LED or the 70 yard throwing Incan?  Two lights for two toally different purposes.

Personally I do not buy, and will never buy, another non LED flashlight. Ilike WHITE light not yellow and I HATE popped or burned out bulbs.

In your case if it was a rifle weapon light I would pick the Xenon light over the LED.  That LED is not going to have any range.  Of course you are not locked into that flashlight so get a 3 Watt LED light instead.

Good advice but I most likely won't be in any 25+ yard fire fights any time soon, maybe some homedefense, which will be about 10 yards at most.

I that case, there's no excuse for not getting the LED.

Will the wide beam have less blinding power because of the 3 watt's more focused, long range beam?

So a 3 watt like this, Would have about 80 more yards of range than a 5 watt like this?

LEDs suck to look at period.  They are all blinding.  I would not focus on that aspect however. Focus on its ability to let YOU see things. The Pentagon 3W has a range of about 45-50 yards, not 80 compared to the 5W beam wich is 20-25 yards (this is relative... it might be 80 yards in the desert with no moon but not in the suburbs at night etc, depnds on ambient light, pupil dialation, etc these are supposed ot be realtive comaprisons only).  It takes a Xenon light to reach 80 yards and even then it will be a 9V light not a 6v light.

65 and 75 lumens are pretty much the same right?

I currently own three Surefire lights (6P, G2 & P114D) and I love them; however, the only thing that sucks about them is the fact that I have to buy batteries for them every so often and CR123 batteries are not cheap. I was considering to convert the 6P with a Turbo LED head, but the light output just doesn't do it for me for some odd reason. I am planning to take the 6P and put an isolated Shock bezel  and a clickie tailcap and mount it to my AR and keep the G2 on my duty rig at work.

Nothing lasts forever. Yes, the LED itself may never burn out but the electronics that regulate and control it damn sure will. When things get hot, dropped, banged etc...the little IC's and board circuitry can die. LED's may have some benefits over traditional lights but they're not indestructible.

i've got a g2 and a x200a.  they shine the same distance.  at about 100 yards they will light the trees at home. impressed with both.
