Welcome to AR15.com

I have a few of questions:

1) Did you ever find the cables got caught or snagged?

2) Did you have any weapon-mounted light, or use any flashlights?
How well did they hold up?

3) What didn't you take with you that you found you needed?

Thanks

Al

# 1 With the cables I use NSN 5975-00-903-2284  electrical tie downs any small tie wrap will work. if you use a few there will be no problem with snaging on anything.

# 2  Lights ranged from m95 3 cell to finally a surefire M1 IR I would recomend a M95 2 cell w/ an IR filter. the size of the 3 cell is just too big for an 11in upper.

#3  as far as equipment I found a parascope very handy for keeping your head out of harms way brigade QM has one for $85.00, it is adaptable to a pvs-14 with the proper adapter.  the guy Victor has one on here for an excelent price. http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=209&t=148649.

Feel free to ask any other questions..happy to help

Nice toe pic.

If you were to reconfigure today, what would you do differently?

How useful was the dual mag holder on the 2nd pic, and the bipod on the 1st?

I am just back in the states for a break I plan on going back after the holidays.

#1 the versipod bipod was ok The + was the bayonet adapter saves room on the lower ARMS Rail. The - is that it just isnt a very good bipod. I plan on moding the bayonet adapter to mount a rail mounted harris or a GG&G.

#2 The Redi Mag was outstanding. There is no faster way to get a second mag into your weapon. Most engagements only lasted 2-3 mags in semi auto fire so your first mag change makes a big diffrence.

As far a configurations go I change and practice alot. So there is always something diffrent on my weapons. Is anyone here going to Iraq soon? If so I have all of the NSN's for the NVEC stuff. Most of it is pretty easy to get through the Class 9 (army) suply system.

Why free float and then mount a bipod on the barrel?

What type of AR is that and do you find that set up like the first two pics to be cumbersome when trying to move about?

Thanks for the answers, welcome to ARFCOM and thanks for your service.

The first pic with the 4X Raptor is a bear mostly because of the weight of the raptor itself. Tha second pic worked well and was easy to move where you wanted it and when you wanted to.

Why question someone who spent 2 years in Iraq?
I think he might have his reasons.

I can only guess none of that stuff was used in theatre - with its very NIB look.

Or was it a pic before you deployed

I was kinda thinking the same thing, especially after seeing RustedAce's pics.  But maybe he wasnt "out in it" as much as Ace, I dunno?

About the free float, your right my bad, honestly never thought of that. back to the drawing boards. As for the condition of the equipment. the stuff in the pics is new, I just recieved most of it . We could not get them to ship it to an APO.  The stuff that is in country is much more , shall i say well used. the only piece I ever knew that has broken was a illuminator cover off of an ATILLA. It was an easy fix once we got the cover and the 4 pins.

Here is a pic of me in somewhere in the Green zone.

Mic -- no wories - just attempting to keep eveyone honest.

Attila eh?  I am extremly impressed with NVEC's stuff (esp the Attila).

Not to hi-jack more than I have - but I thought NVEC would not deal with contractors?
*personal interest as I am now out and looking for kit.

I knew about the APO/AFO restrcitions -- you need to DHL them to a unit.

We got our first 2 issues of  ATTILA's,  VITAL's and  Raptors through a aviation unit we helping out. All it took was some Embassy.support and we got SD Letterhead  to buy the rest. Kinda like after ban stuff was only available to Police with LEO letterhead.  By the looks of your pic you were over there where at?
