I've got 4 of the flashlight mounts. IMHO the best flashlight mount out there. The strap retention is much more secure than Fobus's wedge system. Also, it has two locking bars (instead of the 1 for the Fobus) so it's stronger/more secure. Also, it comes in 3 colors Tan, OD, and Black. The only thing that would come close IMHO would be a LaRue or ARMS throw lever ring - but they are much more expensive. FYI I get my TDI mounts from BrightFlashlights here on AR15.com. |
Yes - the TDI was designed for M1913 rails, no pounding implement is required. The Fobus was designed for the Fobus rails - which are close, but not quite 'exact' to M1913. I've had 2 Fobus mounts. One fit fine on M1913 rails, one was super tight and needed some work with a file before it it would go & off. I've never had a problem with the TDIs. |
| There is one problem that has been experienced with the TDI light mounts, I've had two customers complain about some play in the cross slot and there is some truth to this. What's allowing this is that the locking bars aren't the full width of a Picatinny cross slot so the mount can move forward & backward slightly. As far as attachment & detachment is concerned, like Forest said, you won't have to fight it. |
I wonder why people would complain about this. A slightly loose fit makes it easier to install & remove - especially if you've painted the rifle or get the rails dirty ( Heaven Forbid!).It's not like they are aiming devices and need to be precisely mounted - as long as you still have light in the target area it's not an issue IMHO. FYI 3 out my 4 TDI mounts have a bit if fore/aft motion, it's nothing to worry about. |
