I ran across this mount in a thread here and ordered two, waddya think ???

The mount is is made for a 1" tube but I improvised for my E2D with a few layers of heat shrink tubing, I'm thinking an additional "shock isolator"....    It fits very snug.......

Anyway, this is nice because it is ambi-. It will mount and "Offset" both angles on all four rails....

    The mount will allow you to mount the light at 1,2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11

I am not involved with Viking Tactics  at all but Kyle was very helpful....

Edited to add:  It is constructed with Glass filled Nylon, brass nuts receive the allen screws that tighten the clamp on the rail and three tapped holes allow three allen head screws to tighten down directly on the lights surface.

Hope that helped......

I have one as well.  Good stuff!  Gets the job done and only $20!

I only had a limited amount of time to play with it but so far it's a very comfortable mount for those using vertical grips.  It is a polymer mount so I would like to torture it a bit more and see if anything happens.

How is the light retained in the mount? I saw the three set screws on the back side. Do these tension the light directly or do they push on something else?

The three set screws tension directly on the light itself. They go in at a slight angle creating more pressure than straight in.

How solid are the set screws that contact the light? I would worry that the threads in the plastic could easily strip out. I also don't know if I'd like 3 screw marks on the side of my light, but I suppose some sort of shim between the light and the screws would fix that. Anyway, I'm ordering one. It's a whole lot cheaper than getting a offset adapter and a light mount.

I 2nd the notion of screw marks...

From their site:
"This mount will allow you to mount any light with a 1” or slightly larger diameter. Even the inexpensive Surefire G2 Nitrolon will fit. "

I'm thinking of chucking in a 6P (I'm poor)...
Maybe some inner tube would protect a bit?

Could simply wrap your G2 or whichever light with some black electrical tape.  Yes, I know, not appealing to the eye, but it's going to be covered by the mount!

Don't know about the mount, but....

You're going to tear your thumb up on that E2D tailcap.

A step in the right direction.

It needs one of two things:
Either
1) A a quick release rail mount (captive knobs or push buttons ala Fobus or TDI)

or

2) A toolless method to hold the light in place so if it should go dead you can quickly and easily replace it.  For example if those set screws had 'wings' to allow you to tighten/loosen by hand....

I robbed this from another thread and I'm going to give it a try.

Just wanted to add a follow up to some notes I posted in the original thread...

What I mentioned last time was that the screws used to attach the mount to the rails were the same as Yankee Hill accessory screws.  So I ordered two YHM thumb screws from Bright Flashlights for $9.95 shipped.  They came in today, and they are PERFECT!  They're a bit close together, and they add another ounce or two, but they allow me to ditch the allen wrench altogether and I can pop this thing on or off without tools.
