| Damn... thats Surefire's new U2. I want one BAD! It is a variabl power LED. Turn the head for different levels of light. As I recall, it is as low as 2 lumens to as high as 100? I may be mistaken on the lumen levels, but its something liek that. It looks like an AWESOME light. |
|
exact specs? Don't know. I guess the pre-production sample I have is about 10 Lumens (min) to 100 Lumens (max) So that's KL5 output (100 Lumens) (Anyone who wants to believe the KL5 is only 65 Lumens can do so). Anyway, I have no idea when the U2 will be released. Your friendly Dealer should have a pre-order price I believe. If you have questions about it I will answer them if I can. Al |
Not for sale yet, but soon. I have many on back order! C4 |
|
Info on the U2 can also be found at Supreme Co., who is SureFire's Hong Kong dealer. It's also shown in the 2004 SureFire Illumination Tools catalog. And finally, this thread. Size15s, didn't you have another thread showing the interchangeability of the U2 head with some Millenium series componenets a while back? Maybe you can post a link since I can't find it... you always have the best comparative SureFire pics! |
Hey Al, do you think they will be selling just the U2 head? C4 |
|
Better question is will they go ahead and develop it as a weaponslight with an HA black body?? They need to be do the same with the Scout light and start using the E2D bezel; the domed lens is a great improvement over the std. E2E bezel. The current M651C Scout light in it's mixed up configuration really puzzles me, I'm not sure what they were thinking??

The U2 as a weapon light would be AWESOME for sure. I hope to see something like that... C4 |
| For the longest time I was wondering what the benefit of the domed lens was. I asked PK who told me it will defract light from an incoming beam, while the flat ones will just reflect it. Sounded like it made perfect sense. Is there any other advantage to the dome lens? |
|
The large domed lenses of the U2 and other SureFires mainly help reduce the reflections. The small domed lenses of the E2d and other SureFires are also said to produce tighter beams compared to flat glass lenses. I'm not sure this isn't just natural variation though. Al |
| Just another overpriced gee whiz piece for flashlight nerds. Ken Good's light looks to be better and cheaper. You can see it HERE |
| ummm, serious, nothing against Kens lights. I have been waiting for his lights to hit the market for probably 4 years or so. But the Gladus is not the same type light as the U2. Not at all. They are totally different. Someone needing a Gladus would not be getting the right light buying the U2, someone wanting the U2 would not be getting the right light buying the Gladus. Know what I mean? |
