Hello folks.

I currently have a Bushy M4gery with fat carbine handguards and an Aimpoint. What kind of light would fit this kind of carbine?

If I wanted a modular light (M96x), I would need an M4 RAS, but it would allow me to use vertical foregrip and pushbuttons instead of wires. Can also remove grips/lights very quickly. 9v can be used without problem with a vertical grip.

If I go classic barrel mounted route, I don't spend as much but I'm limited to wires and stock handguard, and I can't remove the light quickly when I want to. Also I would be more likely using a 6v light instead of 9v since it is too long for a carbine barrel mount?

(I was initially set for modular set-up with M4 RAS but then as a college student I don't have much money and too much BHD got me thinking about Surefire 660s )

Any suggestions?

Hey, you sound like an airsofter with that comment.  I can see you show up with your BHD setup and your Delta Force protec helmet and bosy armor.  Just remember the events in Somalia were a decade ago.  Their gear was set up that way because those were pretty much their only options then.  Times change and technology advances.

It seems as if you are wanting an RAS setup.  So why don't you just take more time, save more money and do it right rather than waste money now on a rig you won't be satisfied with?

I was kinda like that 2 years ago when I first got the Bushy M4gery after I moved from my mother country.

Thats right but the price difference is more than $300, and that would be heavier. After I replaced SIR with fat handguard, I really feel how much lighter the carbine is. Well you can't really ask for both eh.

But I don't want the SureFire to hang off my barrel either... not because it doesn't FF, but the fact it directly touches it. I'm afraid the barrel heat would do something to the light.

Do you want to use a vertical foregrip?  If so your choice is already made.  If not have you considered buying a used M500?  There are a lot out there.

Yes I know M500A, but if I'm going to spend more than the price range of SF 660 I will save more and go all the way to RAS/M962P. I've also heard that M500's handguard's air cooling capability isn't good. (BM doesn't use double heat sheild, so its different)

Now I think I look pathetic after asking this question. [:D] However, in terms of weight saving, Surefire 660 looked promosing.

Thanks for your input gents.
