I'm looking for a tutorial on proper non-trigger hand placement (I'm right handed) when target shooting from a bench with a front bag rest only. The bench at the range I frequent the most is too small for both a front and rear bag. I'm shooting an LMT Defender with a SOPMOD buttstock

I shoot with the left arm under the gun, not touching.

For me in a front bag only situation my off hand (left) would likely end up under the stock mimicking a monopod as the front bag usually cause the front of the rifle to be elevated and not level with the stock.

Same here.  Either way will work.  Support arm under the buttstock or up on the handgaurds..  Who cares?  It's never going to be as good as bagging front and back.  But you might get really good regardless.  If it's all you can do, than it's all you can do.  The bench is just for fun, confirming zero, or checking mechanical accuracy.  Since the last one might not be ideal, then you have the other two options.  It is not however a very practical position for hunting and self defense.  Unless you only hunt from a stand.
