I have a new Colt 6720, and need a sling. I'm debating getting Magpul furniture, and one of their QD slings. Or I may keep it stock for now and just add a sling. Are QD mounts a "no brainer" ??? Or do many use standard attachments? I know I can mount a QD socket to the factory carbine stock, but what about the front? Any suggestions would be grateful |

With my issued M4 I like to swap a B5 SOPMOD onto the rear and then put a Magpul MS3 with the built in rear QD point on it. Then I would use the front clip to hit the side sling swivel up front.
B5 Sopmod's are $50 at Botach. (just choose your color from the drop down menu for the price to change) https://www.botach.com/b5-systems-sopmod-stocks/ Here is the MS3 at Brownells. http://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=55963&ctc=iwmfm0s99600zk8a00y51&mi=10077&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brownells.com%2Fshooting-accessories%2Fslings-sling-swivels%2Fslings%2Far-15-m16-ms3-multi-mission-sling-prod54498.aspx Blue Force Gear and Vickers also make some excellent padded slings. If you like to use sling positions, look at the Short Action Precision (SAP) positional shooting sling. https://www.triadtactical.com/SAP-Positional-Rifle-Sling.html |
| Thanks jaqufrost. Anybody use the Proctor sling? This has my interest...http://www.wayofthegun.us/black-proctor-sling/ |
| I use the 1.2 Convertible sling from Redi Mag. It's solid, quick adjustable, works as a 2 point or 1 point sling, and it attaches easily. I don't waste money on swivel attachments and such. I can attach, detach and convert with almost no effort. Plus they're only $28. For me, it's a no-brainer for my KISS approach to AR's. I bought one and it's all I've gotten since. It may not be your thing, but it's absolutely GTG and worth a look. |
| I'm not a fan of QD attachments on serious (duty/SD/HD) rifles. It's an (unnecessary) part to fail. QD is convenient, it is not the strongest/failproof. I do like QD for my range toys, but my HD rifles are "hard mounted" (straight to swivels, no QD). The only HD rifle I have with a (semi) QD set up has MASH hooks (no moving parts, one single stamp of steel, and nothing to fail). If you're not familiar with MASH hooks, give them a look. |

Yeah, after some serious thought I figured for a true "go to" gun fixed attachment was the way to go. Very happy with my choice |

I went with the basic Vickers BFG. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/44442/6720-SHTF-116151.JPG This. Vickers BFG all the way. But padded instead of basic. And instead of attaching to the left side of your stock, attach it to the right side of your butt stock, over the top. And switch to a .625 side sling swivel. At least, that's what I'd do. |
