Anyone have experience with running while carrying a rifle?
Not just short dashes but 5+ miles? I've tried before with a simple two point sling but could not find a method of holding the rifle firm enough to my body to keep it from beating me to death. I have my eye on the VTAC back pack sling (http://www.vikingtactics.com/product-p/vtac-bps.htm). Experiences with this sling? Secure / snug enough to not bounce excessively while running? And yes I know, no one else will run unless there something is chasing them and if they have a rifle there is no need to run... har-har-har. |

I've been doing some 5K Run n' Guns for the last couple years. I really like the VTAC Bungee Sling. You can snug it up to run (I run with my gun in front of me) and it gives a little bounce that reduces fatigue and makes it a little more comfortable.

I own a rifle... so I don't have to run... The Biatholon suggestion is most likely your best bet, as running 5 miles with an AR is going to put you in a pretty small group.\ with not a lot of options. Actually, there are a lot of fellows running with AR's now days. Check out all the Run n' Guns going on right now. Here's one that I'm familiar with in Oklahoma Oklahoma Run n' Gun There are several others as well in Texas and Kentucky. No one uses the biathlon type slings. Use a standard sling of your choice, one that you can use for shooting. See my post above for my choice. |
