I'm in the process of getting the gun trust setup and in a few months (hopefully before the inevitable Hillary coronation In the mean time i'm thinking about spending the $40 and getting a Spikes Fake Can to practice with. I would assume the additional weight would be similar to having a real suppressor on the barrel and would be good to practice with. Has anyone used the Spikes or other similar "accessory" as a practice device? If so did it effect the accuracy at all? Is the additional weight distribution similar to what i can expect with the real thing? |

So Strike Industries has a version that allows for the attachment of compensators, flash hiders, and brakes to make it actually functional. They advertise it as a training aid. Weight seems to be comparable. Unfortunately it won't fit under my handguard. :(
From their site: "The Strike Industries' Cobra Series dummy suppressor is designed as a training aid eliminating unnecessary wear on your real suppressors while providing a realistic weight to your rifle for training." I have no idea how legit that is though. |

IIRC, AAC makes (or at least used to make) an inert trainer/demonstrator/display version of the M4-2000.
You'd probably have to special order it, which may take as long as getting a real suppressor, and you will probably end up paying out the nose for it... but it's an option, and you'd be able to have an exact, inert replica, and use the same mounts. Surefire also makes one for the SOCOM-RC that they want $299 for. ~Augee |
