I didnt want to jack the other guys thread that posted similar to this.
I am having issues with mounting my sling. I get it on the rifle and since I have a 13" keymod rail, i had to purchase a rail section and a then a QD mount. I didnt realize how big the QD mounts are if they are not low pro or flush fit. Bottom line is the sling and the mount feels like it gets in the way. Anyways, I have the QD mount about halfway down the rail on the side (left) and the end of the sling tied through the bottom hole (I assume they are for a sling since they are flat) on my MOE stock. But it still feels not right. Is this just something I have to get used to? Buy a smaller QD mount? Single point sling? I am at a loss here. Are there any recommendations on where\how to mount the sling? Google has been pretty unhelpful. |

There are plenty of QD sling mounts for KeyMod available, you don't have to use a small rail section, check out this attached link, BCM, Daniel Defense, IWC, KAC, etc, makes KeyMod QD mounts.
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/KeyMod-Accessories-s/173.htm I also have a MOE stock and I usually mount my sling there at the vertical slot next to the buttpad, if you want to add a QD mount take a look at IWC MOE QD sling mount. http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/qd-rotation-limited-buttstock-sling-mount-n-slot/ If you don't want to add a QD mount to your MOE perhaps think about upgrading to the Magpul CTR (I also have one) already with a QD mount and also a friction lock to eliminate stock movement with the buffer tube. |

Well sling attachment position is personal preference but you can start by attaching the sling either to the front of the rail or the rear of the rail but not in the middle.
As far as the bulk of the add on QD mount some are smaller than others but positioning is more important. Lot's of rails now come with built in QD sockets which solves the bulk issue and the cost of an add on mount. These built in sockets are typically made at the front and rear of the rail but not in the middle. You can also try mounting the rear of the sling at the back of the receiver instead of on the butt stock. You will need to get an end plate with a QD socket but they can be had for $15. So with 4 mounting spots you get 4 possible 2 pt sling mounting configurations to try. I prefer mounting at the rear of the rail and rear of the receiver on the end plate. The sling is not in my way at all and I like the way it hangs the rifle on my body. Some folks like a 1 pt sling depending on what they are doing, running around while not holding the rifle does not work well. If you install the end plate mount you can try the different configs including the 1 pt and see what you like. |

Thanks guys. I'll look into a QD mount for the back. The problem is that I only have one QD attachment, so I will have to purchase another.
I like the IWC QD add on for the MOE stock. I will also move the mount from the middle of my rail. I finally found some useful info on that, So ill move it back on the rail. Ill be looking at Keymod QD sling mounts today. |

IWC is a great company, I have 5 or 6 of their sling mounts including the MOE QD mount. It would be one stop shopping for you as they have the KeyMod mount, MOE mount, end plate and the extra QD sling swivel you need. E-mail them before you order and ask for a coupon code, it is usually good for at least free shipping. |
