| I just got my first ar and am looking for a sling. My brother offered a military issue 2 point to me if I want it . Before I say yes I want to know if a 3 point has any big advantages over a 2 point |

I had tried 3 point, 2 point and single point slings and my personal preference (others have different preferences) are the 2 point slings and also the user have an option of converting it to a single point as required using a 2 point to 1 point conversion triglide (links below).
I did not like the 3 point webbing interfering with the left side controls of my AR, it easily snags on my mag chest rig, and complicated to use. I've got several 2 point slings with different adjustment features which I use for specific purposes, currently I have Vickers VCAS (made by Blue Force Gear), Viking Tactics VTAC type, Gear Sector, Israeli IDF issue, and the good old USGI/ USMC issue 2 point slings. Magpul also have nice MS series slings, I like the new model MS-1 multi-mission sling which you only buy the main sling and the accessories needed, I will be trying it out myself soon. Quoted:
2 point; vickers. 1 Point: Nut checker, muzzle in the dirt when on a knee 3 Point: Answer in search of a problem 2 Point: ... with fast adjustment --- just right I find some of this true for me as well...I still you between 1 and 2 with my Magpul MS3. I still like 1 point because going from dominant to weak side shooting doesn't put me nearly in a choke by the strap...it isn't bad when in 2 point but I notice the strap along my neck and it bothers me. I run it single pretty high so I don't get nut checked (SBR's) and the muzzle is close to the dirt kneeling but that doesn't bother me. With the SBR's I like single point slings. |

I tried 3 points and didnt care for them. I use a Specter Gear universal 2 point now. I tried the VTAC but the slide was backwards for me. The Specter is much nicer. Specter Gear |
| Just picked up a couple of Specter gear 2 points also. One for an A2 type rifle, and one that they call an M4A1 type, for my 6940. So far I like how they orient the weapons, and the adjusters are pretty slick. I've just been playing around with them so far, so I can't tell you how well they'd work in an "oh crap" level environment. |
