I have two rifles and zero slings.  I need some opinions as I have zero experience with slings on ARs.

The first rifle is a midlength upper w MOE handguards standard endplate and CTR stock.
The second is a midlength upper w Giessle 10" SMR end plate with qd plug and sopmod stock (probably will be replaced with a CTR).

I want to run the sling as a two point.  Any suggestions for either?  Please post your reasoning, what, why, etc..

thx

Here's my carbine gas system which have a 2" shorter handguard than yours, it have a quick detachable (QD) mount for the heavy duty push button sling swivel mounted on the rail near the back end of the rail close to the barrel nut, the back end have a heavy duty push button QD sling swivel mounted on the CTR QD sling mount.

This is my personal preference of mounting my Vickers VCAS two point sling, when the weapon is dropped it will hang naturally muzzle down and very stable which doesn't need another hand to keep it steady.

For your MOE handguards you just have to install a QD mount, Impact Weapons Components (IWC) sells a standard mount and a low profile mount (which you have to send your handguard to them for installation).

Your Geissele SMR should already have a QD sling mount. Does your SOPMOD stock have a QD sling mount of the newer version or is it the older version without the QD sling mount?

If your SOPMOD stock doesn't have the QD sling mount you could just not use any QD sling swivel and just use the sling slot to mount the back end of your sling.

On your two point sling you just need to install two heavy duty push button QD sling swivels, there are different styles push button (small size button, large size rounded dome button, large size flat low profile button), finish (flat gray or gloss black, silver, etc), loop size (either 1" or 1.25"), brands like Daniel Defense, Blue Force Gear, Damage Industries, Knight's Armament Co., LMT, Vltor, etc.

Here's a sample of heavy duty push button QD sling swivels from Damage Industries with groove on the push button face and another model without the groove button face.

Here's the link for the MOE handguard QD sling mount from IWC site.

I run almost the same as Alpha-Romeo is saying.

Push button QD in the back on the stock. But instead of a QD on the Magpul forearm I have the Magpul sling loop and a HK clip on the front of my sling. Same position as his picture though.

I prefer mine the same as Alpha-Romeo, but I also have a few where I use a GG&G QD mount in the front site tower.
