I have some of these in black from rails I had on another gun. I decided to put a couple on my AR to see if I liked them better than the ladder covers from Magpul. I like the feel a lot more, and now I'd like to find some that match Magpul FDE. I like the rubberized feel of the UTG covers, which would be a huge selling point for me, but if there's nothing else I'll probably end up buying Magpul XTM covers. Thanks in advanced for any help EDIT: Sorry, just found what I was looking for. Magpul XT panels. |

I find the Larue Tactical covers to be superior in every way. Very modular so it makes running wires for lights and lasers a breeze and keeps everything tight and clean.

I checked out the pack of I believe 75 covers plus the handstop. Do you by chance know if they match magpul FDE? Or at least come close? |

You must have huge hands!!! I find the ladder covers the most comfortable. The solid covers just add to much bulk to the rail, especially the UTG covers. I only want that added "bulk" in a few spots I have a VFG near the end of the bottom rail. My pinky sits on the VFG, ring finger in the "curve" of the VFG at the top, middle finger sits on the rail but pressed against VFG (kind of like a hand stop), index finger sits close to the end of the rail, and thumb goes over the top and can actually touch the right side rail. Mostly for shits and giggles I decided to see what the UTG covers felt like and if I put 1 in front of the VFG (it sticks off the rail a bit though) and then 2 on the left rail at the front, I feel I get a better grip on the weapon. The only thing I didn't like is my UTG covers were in black and everything else is FDE on my AR. Magpul XT (not XTM) look promising, but I'm really considering giving these LaRue covers a try. |
