I have been shooting guns since 1972 and I have used every lubricant and cleaning product made....Started out with an Outers cleaning kit then went to Hoppes, good ole No. 9 cleaner....
After trying just about everything, I settled on Slip 2000 and Wilson Combat. I have used Wilson Combat on my 1911's for years and their lubes are outstanding....Tried Slip 2000 about five years ago and it too is great. I used their Copper Cutter and Carbon Cutter for the AR's and pistols and the Slip 200o lube oil for general lubrication and Slip EWG for the bolt carrier.... These are the ones that work best for me and I will continue to use these.... 77Bronc Attached below are some pictures of my cleaning kit, what I have assembled over the years....buried in the bottom of this kit is a tube of Gunslick I purchased in 1974 from TG&Y, now I have just aged myself

We switched over to frog lube about 4 months ago. It really seems to do a fantastic job.
Our cleaning kit now includes only the following: 1 bottle frog lube, 4 toothbrushes (USGI double ended one), 1 Hoppes Boresnake per caliber, 2 microfiber cloths (1 was included with the frog lube, but a white t-shirt works very well too). A good wipe down of the parts with the cloth takes away a substantial amount of carbon. A little more lube and a brush on the stubborn stuff, wipe down afterwards. A little FL on the boresnake and 2 pulls through the barrel. A light coating of FL and you're back in business. Our cleaning time has dropped substantially. When we do a family day at the range, it used to take about an hour or so to clean everything. Now we're done in a little over 25 minutes for a shotgun, AR, Walther p22, Glock 19 and a Marlin 795 (4 people are cleaning at the same time). Might be worth a try for you. |
