I'm looking for recommendations for the hardware to connect a VTAC padded sling to a flattop carbine that has a picatinny forend, verticle foregrip, and a collapsible buttstock . Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

VTACs come with no attachments. You do that on your own.
Currently moving away from the single point stuff to two points using QD swivels at the rear/front of the handguard and the back of the reciever. If your handguard doesn't have a qd point the make railed options and I use a noveske back plate for the rear mount. But if you have a A2 sight with a sling mount you can loop to that and your butt stock. Simple as it gets |

I put a push button release on my Magpul stock and a Magpul attachment on the hand guard. Works pretty good. EventuallyI will get a push button release on the hand guard.

THe Noveske QD endplate works well for you? On the VTAC page, they say to connect to the top of the buttstock. I use the Noveske endplate with my VTAC. There are several schools of thought on how and where to attach the points of 2p sling. Kyle Lamb of VTAC prefers his sling to be attached at the far end of his handguard and at the end of the stock. I tried that and didn't like it. What I finally decided on was attaching the front end of the sling to a spot on the handguard nearest the receiver and the other end to the end plate. This works for me. You just have to try it for yourself an see what works best for you. VTAC makes a sling attachment called the low profile sling attachment. This will work on a quad rail. They make another called the universal which will allow you to use QD, hooks and threading the sling in it as well. I use the rail less sling mount that works on my VTAC JP handguard. The nice thing about the low profile mount and the universal are that they are easily moved on your rail so that you can experiment with location. As previously mentioned, Gear Sector makes fine mounts that are extremely low profile and Jason Trusty, the owner, is a great guy who prides himself on good CS. I would suggest buying one of the mounts for your rail and experimenting with placement. Try it with the rear portion of the sling connected to the stock. Down the road, you might want to try out the Noveske endplate. BTW, VTAC sells a quality QD swivel on their site. |

Thanks for the reply.
I put a low profile side-mounted quick disconnect on the front rail. For the rear, I put a Noveske end plate on and tried it, but I took it off and just connected by looping through the top end of the buttstock. I like this since my rifle seems easier for me to handle and doesn't tip to the side as was the case when I connected to the endplate and wore the sling. Thanks! |
