| I have a IMOD and would like to set up a two point sling. And would like to practice transition to handgun. Any suggestions on how to set up? Including hardware needed. Undecided on sling at this time. Thanks! |
Your stock has a qd socket and your rail might. If not, there are clamp on sockets (like this). That's probably the easiest. Placement of the swivels is largely personal preference.

I have a similar set-up here. Get your sling of choice (I used a Vickers BFG VCAS) and a socket mount (I used Gear Sector). The bolt it up and you are done.

Yep, you'll have to play around and see what works best for you but a very good place to start would be as follows: Gear Sector QD mount (I like mine close to the receiver) VCAS with a few "custom" adjustments Push button QD ends I prefer the stock attachment be on the opposite side of the stock http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m248/bjwar10/Inventory/DSC04740.jpg Why? Other than preference, what does it do for you? Not being an ass, just looking for the better way. |

This...and it hangs closer to my body when dropped for transiton to sidearm. |
I also attach the rear of the sling on the "opposite side of the stock" same reasons as the others My personal preference is to mount the front of the sling close to the receiver, so the sling won't interfere with my support arm, also when dropped the weapon will naturally hang muzzle down. I use Daniel Defense rail mounted quick detach sling mount which have an anti-rotational feature to prevent the sling from being twisted and tangled, make sure this feature is also on any other brand that you choose. For the sling itself I mostly use my Vickers VCAS and LaRue Tactical two point for two different uses. I prefer my VCAS sling if I'm doing more shooting while the LaRue if I'm carrying and traveling, also using it to help steady my weapon for precision shots. Padded slings are my choice if I'm carrying a heavy carbine or for carrying for a long time.
