I've been toying around with the idea of getting a permenant setup for a Rifle (16" AR of course)  to keep with me in the trunk all the time.
I was checking out all the Pelican setups due to this bringing more security and covertness to trunk storage.

I am concerned over the reported rates of moisture/rust in hard cases other mention in a few posts around the site.

Would a lot of desicant be enough for a year round Texas environment?    (No big snow and mostly garaged at home and office,  but a lot of time on the road)

Any other suggestions to protect and secure a long term preserving environment for your AR??

Pelicans are fine.  Just oil everything and do your proper care and maint.

Folks forget it's a hardcase and not a time machine or sci-fi stasis field.  It's waterproof plastic and foam.

The biggest issue is you are advertising a 400 dollar case in your trunk.  That says "Steal me bitch!  I'm pawnable!" from pookie the local crack-head or anyone else who see's you with it.

One of our local cops just shoves a draco pistol under his front seat.  I like his style.

One of my rifles basically lived in a pelican case for about 4 years.  I just kept it lubed and threw in a desicant pack (silica gel cat litter).  I never had a spot of rust and this was in the trunk of a crown vic that leaked every time there was a heavy rain.
