Just received a Magpul AFG2 (angled fore grip). I had to loosen all the bolts on the thing so the two halves would open up a bit to get it to go onto my LWRC M6 rail. I haven't been able to shoot the rifle with the grip yet but it feels good dry firing with it. I'll get it out to the range this weekend for a formal introduction. Surely not gonna come off very quick. I don't think I needed to install the cross screw to keep it on the rifle. Are LWRC rails normally wider than others or is this thing made to be tight like this?

Was tight to go on a Yankee Hill rail and SR556 Troy rail also.
i did not have to loosen the screws though.
I would probably go ahead and put the cross bolt in just to be sure.

I would put the bolt in under stress you are going to pull that thing really hard. I love mine on my noveske it fits really smooth.

They go on tight. Put the cross bolt in. It wont stay tight under recoil.

On the rifle is there very much difference in feel (size) between the AFG and the AFG2? I have the AFG on mine and my sons ARs and we both think they are a little oversized, clunky feeling. A local shop has the AFG2 in stock in black and FDE that we need so Im thinking of switching. Hopefully they will be a little smaller. Also using M1 rails and they seem to be a little wider too.

EDIT:

Picked up the AFG2s today.... alot better feel than the originals. Also, I had to hammer my sons on his rail, it went smoothly once it started sliding, mine went on by hand and tightened up well.

Supposedly slides on smoothly.... my AFG2 did on both rails, my sons AFG2 was very tight on both rails. I didnt take any measurements but the black AFG2 was definately tighter than the FDE.? I only used a small dead blow hammer, it didnt take any big hits to get it started but it wasnt going to slide on like mine....

I've just fitted an AFG 2 on a DD Omega rail, no problems a good fit.
