Can someone tell me if this type of sling was GI issue in the 2001-2007 range. My cousin was trying to describe the sling he would like to get for his AR that was what he used when he was in the Marines. It sounds like the one on Donner_und_Blitzen rifle in this thread, if that isn't the issue sling for that time period could someone steer me in the right direction. I would like to buy him one for his AR15.

greetings, the sling on my rifle is older type with metal fittings: Current issue "silent" type are just a strap with 2 "h" buckles
As far as I know the one with the metal fitting was used from Vietnam up till the change was made to the current "Silent" types used today. I don't know what year the change was made to the "silent" type. http://www.rollanet.org/~stacyw/us_m16_sling.htm |
| Thanks Donner_und_Blitzen, I guess I am going to make him sit in front of the computer and show me the one he had. The way he discribed unhooking one end and wrapping it around his bicep then flipping the latch to cinch the rifle down tight I would've thought it was like the one you show. |

You can do that with the one I have. From what you are saying that is the sling he is talking about. |
| Sounds good, looks like I have a new reason to visit the gun shows, lol. The boy has never asked me for anything so I'm determined to find him one of these slings. I have a bunch of cousins and quite a few are mooches but this young man is a go getter. Thanks for the help guys. |
